This seminar is aimed at doctors who have some knowledge and background in investments (although we realize there are always less experienced investors in the room who are looking to learn more about investing from someone who is not selling anything). The goal is to get wealthy by investing our savings in a sensible long-term manner without letting investing take over our lives.
AGD Subject Code: 550 (Practice Management)
Teaching Method: Lecture
This seminar will focus on:
Too many doctors experience “investment paralysis.” They are so unsure of what to do in these unsettling investment times that they let too much money build up, long term, in money funds and CDs. This seminar will help you understand that there is always uncertainty in the markets. It will help you understand how stocks and bonds work. By using a financial calculator to work examples, it will help you to understand how to analyze the math underlying an investment you are considering. It will help you to design an investment strategy that you are comfortable with (no one strategy is right for everyone), and that should help break through investment paralysis.
REMEMBER, WE DO NOT SPONSOR OR SELL INVESTMENTS, WE TEACH YOU HOW TO DO IT YOURSELF OR LEARN ENOUGH TO JUDGE WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING FOR (OR TO!) YOU.
As in the past, we will highlight guest speakers who are experts in their respective fields. This will be a “working” seminar. We will present a course workbook for greater audience participation. Please bring a financial calculator. As in the past, the recommended pocket calculator is the Hewlett-Packard 12-C financial calculator. It is a popular calculator and is generally available in most electronic and department stores. If you cannot bring that one, be sure to bring another financial calculator.

Lynx Capital Group Ltd., Cleveland - Brian has in excess of 30 years of investment experience with many different perspectives from working in the brokerage industry, portfolio manager of hedge funds and with a Multi-Billion-dollar wealth management firm as co-chief investment officer. He has spoken at several prior seminars and been well received. He will give a comprehensive market overview with opportunities he perceives and areas he thinks one should avoid. He will also talk on the "Worst Mistakes Investors Make." As stock markets are governed by fear and greed there are no rules that work consistently. Investors tend to throw out all logic and let their emotions control their investment decisions rather than sticking to a logical plan and rational decision making. There are strategies investors can use to mitigate common mistakes that drain long-term portfolio returns.
