  • Structuring the practice entity to take advantage of lower corporate tax rates on pass-through income
  • Aggressive planning for the 20% pass through deduction
  • Using corporations as potential investment vehicles to save taxes over the long-term
  • The ideal mix of retirement plan accounts and IRAs in an era of lower business tax rates

Portland is a gorgeous city!  It was recently highlighted by Lester Holt and NBC nightly news as one of 5 of America’s most exciting scenic and livable cities.  It is known as “Biketown, USA” for its hundreds of miles of bike lanes and the nations highest rate of cycling commuters to work.  Visitors likewise enjoy touring this beautiful city, filled with bridges, charming neighborhoods, parks, which all crisscross by the Willamette River.  There are 1,000 orange bikes at 100 stations to reserve and it is a great way to experience everything Portland has to offer.

There is so much to see and do in Portland that we recommend going to for a short summary of great activities to consider!  Some of the most popular are:

Washington Park, which contains the Oregon Zoo, International Rose Garden, Portland Japanese Garden, Hoyt Arboretum and Portland Children’s Museum, hiking and more.

Terrific Food, Art & Shopping – Portland’s walkable city has many eclectic neighborhoods, each filled with its special vibe.  From Downtown to Old Town, Division Clinton, Chinatown, to Nob Hill to the upscale Pearl and Hawthorne Belmont, each district highlights great restaurants, activities and shopping.  Alberta Arts District is known for its monthly street fair, “Last Thursday” in one of the cities most lively and diverse neighborhoods.  This evening should perfectly fit with our seminar dates.

Of all Portland’s nicknames “Drip City” is one of the most accurate.  With more than 40 roasters, the city is drenched with artisan coffee, where great coffee, pastry and coffee cocktails are served up in fun and unique settings.

Oregon Brewer’s Festival starts on July 24, 2019 – great timing!  Tapping some of the world’s best brews since 1988, this five-day rite of summer in downtown’s Waterfront Park draws thousands of attendees with beers from more than 90 craft breweries.

If you only have an extra day or two check out what locals love about Portland – It is a great jumping off point for trips to the Willamette Valley, where Oregon produces its famed Pinot Noirs; Mount Hood, a mecca for hikers and skiers alike; and the Oregon coast, a breathtaking collection of quaint towns, rugged cliffs, and windswept vistas.

To experience the true essence of Portland, a city with plenty of personality, there’s no better anchor than Kimpton Hotel Monaco Portland in all its fascinatingly eccentric glory.  From the moment you walk in the doors of the circa-1912 building, which was recently dubbed “Most Beautiful Hotel in Portland” by Architectural Design, guests will feel at home among the eco-chic digs, peppered with eclectic furnishings.  The Monaco has consistently ranked in the downtown top three Portland hotels on Tripadvisor, and for good reason – the cozy salon-style lobby, complimentary WiFi and bikes, spacious guest rooms, and the city’s best hosted wine tour.

A Downtown Portland Restaurant Worth Celebrating – Red Star Tavern
This is a tavern for the modern ages – spacious and warm, serving Northwest-inspired American dishes with ample use of local, organic ingredients.  Red Star Tavern is a hot spot worth dropping by any time thirst or hunger strikes.  The restaurant is particularly buzzing during the epic happy hour, which runs over 5 hours every day, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. – Close.  Indulge in small plates like Curried Chicken and Tavern Toast (with an olive relish and goat cheese).

Discover the Pearl District from Kimpton Hotel Monaco Portland - One of the most popular Portland destinations, the Pearl District is a shining example of urban renewal – what was once an area of industrial warehouses and abandoned railroad yards is now the city’s most cosmopolitan neighborhood.  Here, the cobblestone streets mix with gleaming buildings, and visitors will find a fun array of art galleries, boutiques, clubs, and cafes, along with some famous icons – Powell’s City of Books, Nirvana for literature lovers.  The bookstore occupies an entire block and is just a 5-minute walk from the hotel.

The most-visited spot in all of Oregon happens to reside just a few blocks from the front door of the Monaco.  Pioneer Square hotel. Head over to Pioneer Courthouse Square, known as the city’s “living room,” for fantastic people-watching around the clock and lots of special events throughout the year. On Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer, catch the Noon Tunes free lunchtime concerts, or visit the Portland Farmers Market on Mondays from June to October. All year-round, right in Pioneer Square, Portland, you’re likely to find locals playing chess, grabbing a bite to eat from a food cart, or just taking a moment to soak in some sun before catching a bus or the light rail to journey to another part of the city. If you want to head somewhere yourself but aren’t sure where, the on-site Travel Portland Visitor Information Center can offer ideas. A stay at our Pioneer Square hotel puts you right in the heart of many of Portland’s sights and sounds.
